pranayam meaning:
prana is breath or life force in your body.
Ayam means control.
pranayam is the "control of breath" or life force.
IMPORTANCE OF BREADTH
breadth is the only thing that remains with us from birth till the end of our life.
One can control the rhythms of practice energy with pranayama and achieve a healthy body and mind.
Pranayam focuses on the way how we are breathing.
WHAT IS PRANAYAM
Now you already know the meaning of pranayama. Now we are going to see the common action we perform in every kind of pranayam.
We can define pranayam in three simple steps:
1. Inhaling of the breadth
2. Retaining of the breadth
3. Exhailing of the breadth
BENEFITS OF PRANAYAMA
Pranayama is a vital force and gives inner strength to the body. Pranayama has endless benefits.
Some of them are mentioned below.
- It keeps the entire air track open for proper ventilation of carbon dioxide.
- It reduced the toxins from the body.
- helps in acquiring more amount of oxygen in our lungs.
- make our senses more active.
In short, pranayama helps in developing the whole body to the next level.

Patanjali in his text of Yoga Sutras mentioned pranayama as a means of attaining higher states of awareness, he mentions the holding of breath as an important practice of reaching Samadhi.
It is the fourth limb of Ashtanga Yoga.
Hatha yoga also talks about 8 types of pranayama that make the body and mind healthy.
TECHNIQUES FOR PERFORM ASANAS
There are various techniques for performing pranayama. They are:
- Bharstrika
- Anulom-Vilom
- Kapalbhati
- Bhramari
- Ujjai
- Meditatiom
And Some Yogic kriya( body purification Techniques)
Some such as Kapalabhati Pranayama (Skull Shining Breath) are energizing and detoxing with a fast rhythm and strong abdominal contractions to expel the breath.
Others are balancing or relaxing like Nadi Shodhana(Alternate Nostril Breathing) or Sama Vritti (Equal Breathing) where inhalations and exhalations are equal lengths.
